China BlueChemical Ltd. (“China BlueChem”), a modern large-scale enterprise under China National Offshore Oil Corporation (“CNOOC”), mainly engages in the deep processing of natural gas and the development, production and sales of chemical fertilizers and chemical products. Established in July 2000, China BlueChem was transformed into a joint stock company in April 2006, with headquarters in Beijing and production units in Hainan, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, etc. Its total designed annual production capacity amounts to 1,800,000 tonnes of urea, 1,000,000 tonnes of phosphate and compound fertilisers, 1,400,000 tonnes of methanol, and 270,000 tonnes of acrylonitrile and relating products.
After more than 20 years of efforts, China BlueChem has grown into one of the largest listed companies in China in terms of chemical fertilizer and methanol production, ranking 12th in the country in terms of production volume, and has been awarded the title of the leading benchmark enterprise in energy efficiency in the synthetic ammonia and methanol industry for ten consecutive years.
China BlueChem is one of the largest, in terms of production volume, and most energy-efficient producers of nitrogen fertilizers and methanol in China principally engaging in the production, development and sale of natural gas-based urea and high value-added synthetic chemical products. The company has advanced production technology and an extensive sales network covering more than 20 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China.
Since its establishment, through a combination of independent construction and reorganization, mergers and acquisition, China BlueChem has grown rapidly from a regional company with only one fertilizer production unit to a listed group company with resource-based production and trading of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, methanol and other chemical products, and is the central enterprise that possesses the largest fertilizer production capacity in China. The company was selected as one of the 201 “Green Factories” in China in the first batch of Green Manufacturing System Demonstration List announced by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
